It seems the credit crunch IS affecting some companies. I hear that franchisers Appeal Blinds are in difficulty. Also, trade suppliers Harmony Blinds Ltd, Bolton are showing massive loss. Neither of these would be a good bet for laying money or relying on! In both instances, I would suspect, are simply down to poor management decissions rather than just market forces. I would suggest you avoid both to ensure you don't get your hands burnt! Don't let Hillbillies try and convince you that it has anything to do with their marketing strategy! The opposite in fact! Hillbillys pathetic excuse at marketing is generally helping the smaller companies to continue trading. It is tough out there at the moment , so either stay put for now or try another field. I've noticed that even the 'bul1rubish3rs' ::)are having it bad at the moment!

I would like to know where you heard that information, if true Sillarys must be feeling the pinch to. Appeal I can maybe understand, but Harmony, I think you will be mistaken. I am another one of the double dealers (no choice) thanks to this and other sites and am doing well, but I hate the way Sillarys always seem to get it wrong, I guess they are caught between a rock and a hard place, the whole out look needs a drastic overhaul, they are getting some really fundementals very wrong. However saying that, it does help me to get alot of business, and I've got a few buddies in the same line also making a mint, so perhaps it is a blessing in disguise. The real winners take advantage of market situations and turn them into positives, not every one is suffering. Some of us are just soft and silent winners. PS. Would someone invite me to one of these other sites that are invitation only, if they exist

Oh dear
Having now received the sale details ,I like others am not convinced. How does one HONESTLY explain a "Summer Collection" when it is buried among all the other samples
deary deary me
What a shambles.
oh dear dear
I have been to a customer today and first thing she pushes the Hillarys leaflet under my nose. I studied it carefully and no mention of selected fabrics or up to! Customer very annoyed and asked me politely to please leave as she feels advertising is very misleading. In the end I did leave a quote, but I know she will not buy and they are previous customers! That on my first appointment for summer sale! Very motivational!
dear oh dear
the leads have been generated by misleading advertising.
Time for a change in performance criteria ?
deary deary dear
Chorley is absolutely correct in saying that it is time that we are compensated for the huge number of manufacturing errors that result in DORs and a return trip to re-fit all at our cost. I would really appreciate someone at Hillarys explaining the justification for not paying us a service call in these instances. I have raised this with my FSM and her response was that I should learn more how to fix the problems on site so that a DOR and a return journey wasn't necessary!!! Why don't we just build the blinds from scratch ourselves. Until everyone refuses to provide this service they will continue to get away with it.
dear dear dear dear
I had the same problem, done a service call for another agent that was on holiday. First thing first cust told me she doesn't want that person back in her house, secondly he didn't listen to them when they said they want 2 seperate headrails instead of one, thirdly coverage bad, fourthly louvres too long, etc!! I dor everything, received headrails last week without louvres, had to wait another week, done dor fit this morning and the 2 seperate headrails of the exact same lenght has different amoount of carriers, one with 15 and the other with 16! Secondly they have ordered the louvres as exact louvre lenght instead of total drop, so louvres is now even longer than old ones!! It is just unbelievable that Hillarys can be so incompetant!! I am the one that needs to go back for a third time to customer and what do I get paid, only £20!! I am the one looking like an idiot, meantime the idiots in the factory and HQ can't do their work and it is costing me money that I will not get back from Hillarys!!!! I am not doing any more service calls, only my own customers!!
DOH! a dear
I think we all know the answer to this one, something to do with "control" and "Quality" and "total lack of"!!!!!!!!
dear oh dear me
sometimes i think the guys in manufacturing just get bored !. i'm led to beleive that chain lenghts r all precut/premeasured (6 diff lenghts), so the chains 4 ur identical drop romans should ave come from same box.me thinks someones gone out there way to piss u off.
dear dear deary dear
When are Hillarys going to get this very important part of the business right? I ordered shaped pleated 3 weeks ago for fitting yesterday 15th May. Needed special brackets which couldn't be ordered on SAM. Called specialist products the next day (in plenty of time for fit),and ordered brackets. Nothing arrived straight away so I thought they would come with blinds. Blinds came ,no brackets.Phoned specialist products to be told no trace of anything being ordered but would sort it straight away. Nothing on this Mondays delivery so called again, same scenario. This time I asked girl to have package sent direct to customer,(they won't pay £15 for a carrier).I stressed to girl the urgency as blinds were being fitted on Thursday. Fitted blinds on Thursday,(no brackets),using all the spares I had leaving three blinds unfinished.Went back to finish off today, (only had one appointment this am.thats another story). No brackets, called in yet again to be told they haven't even been posted yet.
Customer is on holiday tomorrow for a week, I'm on a weeks holiday at the end of May.No commission payment until mid May on a £3000 plus order!
I suppose being an experienced Advisor one could say you should have known better, but I did have a little more faith in Specialist Products, sadly they have let me down big time!
woops dear
Then customers complain of being conned or that the advertising is misleading.
oh dear oh dear oh dear
The omens don't look good for the Summer sale, the verticals selection is derisory and the advertising is misleading. When the new invoices prototype was issued, the feedback and criticism from advisors was long and loud but thankfully Hillarys listened and the result has been well received. Why not do the same in marketing? Are you guys too arrogant to accept criticism and advice? Can't you see that our main market, Joe Public, don't like being conned and they perceive your methods as con tricks. Just be honest and open - Selected Fabrics - or similar. You and we are being seen as sleazy and underhand, is that your aim because if so, it's the one thing you are good at!
oh oh oh dear
Judging by the posts that have already been made, it would appear that the promotion route that marketing have now adopted, seems to have got up the noses of both customers and advisors alike
oh if only dear
Since joining Hillarys in 2006 I have never understood the logic behind the variable pricing of products on the verts multi-blind deals, ie as part of the current promotion we have have four A price band ranges, starting with Clouds and ending with Olivia, yet the difference in price between these ranges on a five rail deal is almost £100. What also makes the pricing look worse is the fact that Capri, a B band range, which at normal list price is approx 25-30% dearer than Olivia, is only £17 dearer than Olivia on a five rail deal. I hope no one is going to suggest that these variences are there to encourage "trading-up", because to my mind they are just a con. Also if Capri as a B price band fabric can be promoted on a regular basis, what is wrong with ringing the changes now and again. Acacia would be a good range to start with

So how many of you long term agents are now looking for another job because your earnings are so far below the poverty line you are in debt up to your eyeballs? This half price offer has effectivly put commission levels to %7.34. At %14.68 it was already the lowest in the industry but at the new %7.34 it is below running a catalog and with catalogs you dont have petrol to worry about or fitting to do. Or costs at all. Puts it all into perspective doesnt it.
