Yep! The feed back on Hillarys is consistantly negative!  Customers have little to say that is good  about them nowadays! I've heard that Hillarys are losing so many new people that they are getting them to commit to £1000 up front which they lose if they leave.  They still have to pay out for the 'rip off' electrical communication stuff too.  What a joke!!!!! Ref - the profit on sales! I've had only £1820 in sales this week  .... but I still made £1170 profit from that and I was far cheaper than Hillarys.  I really must put my prices up! ;D I can offer so many different blind types that the Hillarys guys can't do and with so many price variations to match peoples budgets, I lose very few orders! Let's all hope that Hillarys continue as they do .... coz' it makes business for me very easy indeed! ;D |

Remember, Hillarys can compete, we, the advisors cant. we will forever be running around @ 14.68% commission, on smaller value orders, because of the competition...
They have a massive mark up,on each blind.
Allright they have advertising to pay for, but all the one man bands, dont have f.s.m.s and all their expenses to pay, regional managers,etc, like Hillarys do. With no disrespect meant here towards any f.s.m who reads this, Just what do they do to help us the advisor.
As i wrote yesterday, hillarys aggressive 50% of and 3 4 99 marketing, certainly isnt getting rid of the competition around me...juat ask Kirk and Finland...
Better still log on to Yorkshire Blinds web site and ask him wether Hillarys are getting rid of him.
As he has told me on numerous occassions, Hillarys are the best thing that could ever help his business....

Hi Bernard, know what you mean and some savvy customers will question the ethics but my attitude is that Hillarys make massive profits and list prices have no justifiable relationship to production prices. I get customers on side by telling them that as it will take me no longer to fit say 6 pleateds than 6 rollers, if that's what you really prefer madam I'll split the difference. That way I get a higher value sale than I would have done with rollers, the customer is happy and Hillarys get a higher value order than they would have done at probably little or no loss of margin.

Called yesterday to re-fit roller blind fitted by terminated advisor who I have had to clean up after several times in the past. Absolute abortion of a job which resulted in me filling in craters on side walls where he had screwed bracket in without even using plugs. Did a face fit customer delighted. Problem is that blind had fallen down several times due to poor fit and needs replacement. Rang service centre, explained background asked about payment, told that the one £20 payment applies. Hang on, I've put the job right but the consequential damages, not of my doing, should mean payment for a second visit (customer on edge of my area makes things worse). After checking she says they will pay me £15. Why the difference I asked? You aren't arguing about £5 are you she says (guaranteed to get my back up). Well I wasn't, but I am now, if £5 not worth arguing about why not pay me £20 to go back. Rules are rules she says. Forget it I said, I'm not going back. Then you won't get the £20 for yesterday she says. You can stick the £20 and don't ask me to sort out anyone elses mess in the future. It's about time we started to fight for our rights including getting paid properly for other peoples mistakes especially payments for first dor's on Hillarys errors.

Hi peeps your m8 uncle brian here, did a lovely conserv last week, they had the pot bellied, there words not mine hillarys man around, he couldent measure or fit but called himself a specialist must be new in the area i don't know who it was, it was'ent me. I went in 2 days later under me other you know anyway sold it for 2100 against his 3600, and this is the good part i will make twice as much as he would of if he sold it at his price sweet jokes.
went over to the next town and sold 3 verts 1 being curved 350 i make 160 on that one and she was over the moon hillarys quoted 650, i really must put me prices up.
well coming up to my anniversary of double dealing now (i know) nearly 30,000 in the bank and a turn over of over 100,000, i save so much cus hilly billys pay the mortgage.
any way peeps keep it all up

oh dear Whoever it is copying my posts and others, please stop doing it. It only serves to annoy myself and probably other Advisors, whose posts you are copying. If you want to get at Hillarys try another way! Or is it that you do not [glow=red,2,300]possess the intelligence [/glow]to construct your own comments. I see rushole is still behaving like an inbred remedial, still it must be very frustrating running the other forum, when no one wants to play with you. Maybe if you shut your forum down they will let you post on the official one. Except your chum mr ross kenny has been finally regonised as the non talent he was and been given the push and started his own company. There's quite a few ex dfsm's working for other blind companys now, perhaps thats why everyone knows that you are doing what you are pretending not to do Still good on you, its about time, just stop being such an rushole!! |

I have heard that hillarys are trialing selling blinds in Homebase in nottingham. Any body any news on this even Hillarys can reply. What impact is this going to have on advisors if this goes nationaly. Understand this was in local notts paper.
I've also heard that Hillarys are going to employ some salaried advisors... will it be existing advisors or will it be new ones signing up at a cost to them I wonder? How will this affect leads to other advisors?
These sound like desperate measures from Hillarys to keep up their sales performance...

A company called The Fabric Warehouse that do Curtains & Blinds did this with Homebase.
It cost them around £60,000 per store to do which was a saving against £500,000 for a shop.
It was a last ditch attempt to keep afloat for them too!
Problem is, the display is stuck at the furthest reaches of the store, Homebase do their own range & people going in to the store don't want to pay high prices!
Homebase are the only winners with this one!

What goes around comes around.
Back in the days of the dinosaurs (me included) and the shops, they had employed salesmen/fitters working from the shops/ Now, it doesn't take an FSM to figure out that these guys were driving company vehicles with the associated costs. They had company mobile phones and drew salaries. In short, they cost Hillarys money regardless of whether they sold a blind or not. All this as opposed to you guys, who cost them nothing to run. Therefore, it makes sense to fill their diaries first in preference to the free-of-charge self employed version. Therefore, leads for the self employed guys dried up and they were left with the dregs. It happened to a friend of mine and he was trying to survive on five leads a week. To maximise the potential of these few leads, he started dual trading (shame, shame I hear you cry). That helped things a little but, in desperation, he made the fatal mistake of mail shotting his previous (Hillarys) customers. One of his ladies, wanting to match a Hillarys blind, had one of the salesmen/fitters sent out from the shop and the whole thing blew up. The fitter went running back to "Miss" at the shop waving the mail shot letter. The result was my friend's immediate termination.
If they start to employ these guys again, watch out for your leads, They will dry up.
Quite simply, as far as I can see, Hillarys have lost their way. I don't know why, but they seem to have strayed so far from the original Tony Hillary concept that they have become so lost that they can't find their way back. It is a shame for what used to be a decent company to work with but, seriously, they don't care about you. They will turn their back on you and walk away in a heart beat. There is no loyalty. You are just a number. Very sad.
