Is there anybody out there ? There have been no postings on the forum for three days so either everybody is very busy and has nothing to complain about or discuss, or else this forum is going the way of the last one. I hope not, and it would be nice to see some sign of life, especially from the regulars.
Anyway - I need some help please. Next week I have to fit my first top track shutters - it is nearly 18 months since I did the training course and I can't even remember what all the fittings look like, never mind what to do with them. This order is for a top track 330 cms wide, 205 cms drop, eight shuutters LLLLRRRR, and I have ordered with qty 2 x bi-fold sets and qty 1 x by-pass set (as per the technical manual). I know that when I unpack them I will be facing a jigsaw puzzle with the difficulty of a Rubik's Cube, unless someone can please talk me through it first.
I'm sure that someone out there (Mark, Des, Alan ?) has already done a few of these so I would be very grateful for your step by step instructions - either PM me, or put it on the forum for the benefit of everyone - and every helpful response is worth a pint if/when we ever meet (which means nothing really because I would buy any of you a pint anyway).
Please - your assistance will be greatly appreciated.

From memory ........ Fit top and side battens and level up. Side battens don't need to be dead level in-line with shutters, but pretty good front-to-back. Slide 4 trucks & 2 top fittings in to track and screw track centrally in to top batten. Easier said than done unless there's 2 of you. Fit bottom jamb brackets to bottom of side battens. Must be vertical front-to-back with centre of top track Fit sprung loaded fitting to top of first panel, and fitting with adjustable pin to bottom. Finger tighten top bracket in rail, position sprung loaded fitting in panel in to this and then locate pin fitting in bottom support bracket. You can now slide top bracket along rail to level up, and adjust bottom fitting for height. Now the fun begins ........... You need to identify which is the next panel by matching hinge positions. 4 each way shouldn't be too bad - my last one was 6 right. If starting on the right, drill a 10mm hole in the top left of the next panel and fit an adjustable truck pin. Hang the panel by the hinges and slide the pin in to the truck. Once in, turn the little lever to lock it in place. Adjust the pin to get the panel level and lock it off. Panel 3 just hinges to panel 2 Panel 4 is a repeat of panel 2 with a hanger. You'll also get a black rubber stop. Never quite worked out what it's for and never fitted it. The valance is supposed to be fitted with wood venetian style velcro pads, but I've had none in my last 2 orders. Have ordered them 3 times but never got them - it appears they can't be ordered so I may not be able to finish my next £4,100 order for the sake of 10p worth of sticky pads.
If you get stuck, give me a call.
There seems to be a sudden influx of shutters. I had 25 boxes delivered at home and 28 direct to a customer Friday, and I've averaged 25 boxes/week for the previous 3 weeks. I certainly didn't order them that close together. I've got 13 shutters to fit for 1 customer tomorrow - pleasant way to spend a bank holiday Monday

Many thanks, Des, for advice on Shutters. Still looks like a daunting task but at least I now stand a chance.
As Phugly asks.....where is everybody ?

Many thanks, Des, for advice on Shutters. Still looks like a daunting task but at least I now stand a chance. As Phugly asks.....where is everybody ? Come on Mike, how did the shutters go? First ones I ever fitted were top track and I didn't know which way up to hang the panels. I had a 50/50 chance of getting it right, but got it wrong Customer was happy, gave me £20 tip and has since ordered more blinds

Come on Mike, how did the shutters go? Des....not done them yet, possibly this Wednesday, and I'm taking your mobile number with me just in case...... I'll let you know afterwards. Des....many thanks for returning my phone call yesterday, even though the signal was bad and I had solved my problem in the meantime. It's always good to have the reassurance that advisors can support each other, and your notes on top track fitting were very useful indeed. I got the job done and the customer seems happy and paid up. It took me just over four hours, with a fair amount of head scratching while I worked it all out but, like most new things, now I've got one under my belt the next one will be easier - at least I'll recognise all the bits and know what goes where. Also, just noticed its your birthday - have a good one !
