Hi All Sorry to bring up a boring issue not involving International Financial Affairs, Mine's Bigger Than Yours, Who Is That Masked Man?, etc.........but can anyone help? I recently fitted a conservatory roof and the customer has phoned saying that some of the brass eyelets (where the filos pass through) have come loose. I'm due to go and check it out so the question is: can they be "squeezed" back in to place (with pliers for example), or is this yet another DOR jobby? Also, I often find that despite "proper" measuring , shaped roof blinds are aways reluctant to extend to their full length and despite all the usual adjustments I can end up tucking an additional pleat into the headrail to get full coverage (not a long-term solution). Does anyone else find this? Is there an additional allowance I should be making, or is this just the way it is? Many thanks Druid

If the eyelets have pulled out it's usually because a) they're too close to the edge of the blind, or b) your filos are not paralell. In either case it means a DOR as sqeezing them back in does not work. Be aware though that replacement blinds may not have the filos in exactly the same positions and will mean drilling new holes.
With regards to shaped blinds not fully covering the glass area I usually solve this by adjusting the "master pleat" although often means cutting it at the bottom of the blind.

Be aware though that replacement blinds may not have the filos in exactly the same positions and will mean drilling new holes That problem can be got around, by measuring where the existing filo wires are on the original blind (from one end) and requesting that they make the new one with them in the same place. In theory this works, I have done it a few times. In practice they usually get a filo wire a cm or so out of line, and I get them to remake it again, eventually they get it right. Its always a good thing to check the dor, before you get to the customers house and make a fool of yourself if its wrong. Why is it, that when things go wrong, they just seem to go from bad to worse. Hillarys seem to have really bad internal communication problems and be totally inept at putting things right swiftly and in a succinct manner.
