I would like to know how you up sell. What I mean is, how do you convince a customer that your Roller is a better standard than the competition or a ready made one. In their mind they are no different. What arguments do you use that I could benifit from, what chat do you give, I mean specifics. I suppose it applies to other blinds as well.
Any help?

What system do you use, what system do your competitors use, do they use steel or aluminium tube, what guarantee to you offer, why is your blind so much more expensive, do you need to change supplier? What speed of service, come on its not rocket science! If you cant convince yourself what you are selling is worth it how on earth can you sell it to someone else, find something that is worth the difference!

Products made by differing manufacturers can have thier good and bad points , so compare and select the best things about YOUR product and use that to 'upsell' or create extra value.
ie - Vogue vertical headrails are far superior to the wide track Hillary's ones - because......
* Slim design with curved sides * Made to measure - Not in 'set' sizes from China * Cords are ready set - so set to 'drop' measurements and not left to the 'advisor' to adjust * Made in Britain by Louvrelite
Etc Etc .
I show prospective buyers the difference and in that way they see the advantages and are willing to pay more.
Job Done !
Jam on the Cake as Brian might say !

I use most of the suppliers, depends on what the customer picks. I agree the vogue rail is an easy sell. Because I use them all, I mean suppliers then if I sell the benifits of say the thicker tube roller and then the customer picks an arena fabric, I then have to back track. Same with scollops, if they pick Decora, then to win the sale, I've got to back track and say, a single layered fabric scollop shape is better, when I know its not. I think I have to many options with suppliers which is causing me my problem. The good thing is I always have a fabric the customer likes. Who is the best supplier that you use? If you had to pick one, or maybe two, who would they be and why?
Thanks for your answers.

Ok, so what happens when someone chooses one decora and one louvolite blind? you give them two different systems? Be upfront you are offering a wide choice of fabrics, that is one of your USP's you show them the vogue rail and they want decora louvres what do you do? costs even more again! Is there a localish blind manufacturer that you can buy from, even some small companies can make up blinds for you and all will be the same system. Try, Decorquip, or Swift and see what they offer? We used to do trade blinds for people from Arena, Eclipse, Louvolite, Vertika, Vantana, NHT, Milltex and the best thing was all the blinds were finished in the same way!

It simplify's all matters and means fewer presenters to carry in the Van . I have chosen each supplier on thier own merits of price/quality/delivery etc. My system does work well , and there are fewer 'updates' ! - When i was with the Hillary's people a memo was recieved weekly with 'out of stock' items etc - I DO NOT have that problem any more ! I can not remember when my current suppliers did not have the item/fabric that i had ordered . Hillary's were a joke!

Apollo has its problems as well, out of stocks, lack of choice, slow, etc etc, that are not unlike Hillarys. However, you are dealing with people who really want you to suceed, its your own business, and the financial rewards are considerably higher. I have been saving, (yes SAVING, not part of my drawings) a £1000 a month every month since I started with them, I've been here over 5 years now, you work it out!
